Apartments in the Heart of Sydney Prove a Magnet for International Visitors

Australia is currently enjoying growth in travellers from the Asia Pacific region, with China likely to provide the greatest number of international visitors to Australian shores in future decades.

New Zealand still dominates inbound visitation to Australia with more than 1.1 million visitors in the 12 months to March 2012. However, with the number of visitors from China growing by 15% in the past year to 561,000 and with this expected to increase by a further 19% in 2012, Chinese visitors may soon become the dominant international guests visiting Australia’s sunny shores.

Regardless of whether they travel from the south or the north, many international tourists choose to stay at Metro Apartments Darling Harbour because of its excellent location in the heart of Sydney overlooking Darling Harbour.

Metro Apartments Darling Harbour is set in two buildings, the Sussex Street building offering larger, contemporary-styled apartments with views over Darling Harbour while the King Street building has a more exclusive, intimate appeal. The property is independently rated as three and a half stars and offers a selection of 40 one-bedroom apartments, complete with fully-equipped kitchen, washing machine, dryer and ironing facilities, air conditioning and heating.

The excellent location of the apartment buildings is proving to be the greatest attraction for guests, with a short stroll down Sussex Street taking them to Sydney’s famous Chinatown, where some of the city’s best chefs serve world class Asian cuisine.

An amble west and they arrive at King Street Wharf and Cockle Bay, popular precincts on the shores of Darling Harbour, where a multitude of bars and restaurants offer exotic cocktails and an exceptional selection of international cuisine. For entertainment, enjoy a 3D movie at IMAX or learn more about Australia’s unique wildlife at Sydney Aquarium and Wildlife World. A short walk across the footbridge takes you over Darling Harbour to The Star, where you can see a show or try your luck at the casino.

If you are looking for world-class shopping, walk east from your apartment and into Sydney’s retail heart, with the Queen Victoria Building, Westfield Sydney and flagship David Jones and Myer stores all a short stroll from your front door. For sightseeing, head north to The Rocks, a must to explore beneath the glory of the Harbour Bridge before venturing on to the Opera House and Botanic Gardens. This historic walk will reveal Sydney’s convict history and most beautiful places.

Metro Apartments Darling Harbour has a range of special packages on offer. Book Metro Apartments Darling Harbour and other Metro Hotels properties by calling the toll free Central Reservations line on 1800 004 321. Alternatively bookings can be made online at www.metrohotels.com.au.

Metro Hotel Perth Guest Review from Booking.com 9.6/10

Metro Hotel Perth Guest Review from Booking.com 9.6/10

Whilst we didnt really get to use the facilities, the reception staff were very good and it was terrific to have on site parking.

Room location overlooking the carpark and air conditioner was not really the best, but given the we just wanted an o/n stay so we could attend at function at the Royal Perth Golf Club - it ticked all the boxes for cleanliness, accessability, and a clean and comfortable bed!

We will book again and perhaps look at moving 'up in the world' to take in the lovely view of Perth and stay a couple of nights.

Metro Hotel Sydney Central, NSW - 4 Stars on TripAdvisor By ABDUL RAHIM M, June 6, 2012

1) I stayed at the hotel from 30/5 until 4/6/12. Here are my comments:
a) the room was clean and was made up every day.
b) it will be much better if there are more lights in the room but since we didnt have the time
do much reading, it is okay.
c) the lifts were fast.
d) the location is superb : easy access and near to many of the attractions of Sydney.
e) will definitely stay there again.
2) For muslim travellers, there are 2 halal restaurants nearby : Cafe Kasturi on George St
which serve Malay food (closed on Sundays and the Christmas period) and an Indian
restaurant at Paddy's Market. There is a halal Chinese restaurant (Neptune Palace) at
Circular Quay.
3) If you want to go on a day trip ie to Canberra etc ..........it is much cheaper to book the tour
in Sydney itself rather than by booking it online, which is very strange indeed. For examples,
a) I booked a day trip to Canberra by online and it cost me AUD 155. A fellow traveller only
paid AUD 100 when she booked it at the travel agent near the YHA which is located nearby.
There is nothing exciting in Canberra except for the guided tour of the Parliament House.
Along the way we stopped at the beautiful small town of Berriwa which is an absolute gem.
I booked by online a tour to the Blue Mountains and it cost me AUD 155 (inclusive of lunch).
A similar trip cost only AUD 138 if the booking is done in Sydney. If you travel to Katoomba
by rail and then take the Hop On Hop Off bus there, the cost is even less.
4) From the hotel, walk to Central Station and take a train on the North Shore Line to Milson's
Point. There you can get a picturesque views of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.
Then walk across the bridge to The Rocks. The views are breathtaking.
5) The cheapest place to buy Australiana souvenirs is at the Paddy's market, within easy
walking distance from the hotel. The cheapest perfumes can be found at the shops of
Discount Chemist. I found one such shop at Bondi Beach. The prices were much cheaper
than those at the duty free shops at the airport.

Review of Metro Hotel on Pitt by Max Llewelyn, Editor of The Holiday and Travel Magazine

Thanks for organizing my stay at the Metro Hotel on Pitt. It exceeded my expectations, as I was not sure what to expect after reading the rather negative reviews of it on TripAdvisor.

The room size, cleanliness, quietness, comfort of bed, decor, friendliness and professionalism of staff were alI great.

My wife was jealous that she did not stay with me at the Metro Hotel on Pitt after I told her how good it was. I crammed too much into my the day and a half in Sydney,(seeing and reviewing the Maritime Museum. Wildlife Sydney, Sydney Aquarium, Museum of Sydney. and Aida at the Opera House).

I had passes to see Madame Tussauds and The Sydney Tower, but ran out of time to see these, so I hope to see them on my next visit to Sydney. I reviewed the Sydney Tower Buffet, Selah Restaurant, and City Extra at Circular Quay, and even though they were  good, I preferred the Paradiso Cafe, Bar & Restaurant at the Metro Hotel on Pitt.

The food was good and better value for money, Lawrence the owner more friendly, and the atmosphere suited my lifestyle more. This is the place I will take my family to breakfast, lunch of dinner if we ever all go down to Sydney together. I arrived home yesterday afternoon in time for my night shift at work, so I will write and post a positive article on the Metro Hotel on Pitt today Thanks again for arranging the review oppotunity of the Metro Hotel on Pitt

Best regards,
Yours Faithfully,

Frequent Flyers Set to Fly Higher With New Upgrade Process

Qantas Frequent Flyer have launched a range of new enhancements to its upgrade process to smooth the way for members seeking to use their points to upgrade on flights.
It follows a trial launched in May by Qantas Frequent Flyer to process upgrades closer to the time of departure for international flights.

Prior to the trial, upgrades for international flights were processed up until several hours prior to departure. Under the new system the process will work right up to the gate which means passengers have more chance of securing their upgrade seat.

Chief Executive Qantas Loyalty Lesley Grant said, "This is a terrific enhancement to the program for our 8.6 million members, as it provides additional access to upgrade seats and more opportunities for them to use their points to enjoy a more premium flying experience."

Lesley Grant continued, "We made the decision to invest in the technology following feedback from our members who told us it is a source of frustration when their upgrade request is denied only to find there are empty seats on the aircraft when they boarded due to booked passengers "no-showing" or missing connections. We completely agreed and have engaged a new system that enables us to reallocate seats right up until the final boarding call to ensure we can "surprise and delight" members rather than disappoint".

From today, the three key changes are:

(1) International upgrades
When members lodge an upgrade request online, they can opt in to be eligible for an upgrade at the airport. A member may be notified at check-in or at the departure gate if their request was unable to be confirmed prior.

(2) Domestic upgrades
Under the current process, if a domestic upgrade is not confirmed when requested, members have to return to qantas.com to request again in the hope more seats may have come available. From today, if the upgrade request is unable to be confirmed, members will be given the option to register for an upgrade so the system will automatically allocate them a seat subject to availability and notify them by SMS.

(3) Partial Flight upgrades
Up until now, members have only been able to request an upgrade for the entire flight (e.g. Sydney-Singapore-London) which meant if a seat on one sector is not available, the upgrade was denied. Members can now opt in for a partial upgrade if a seat is available on one of the sectors.

"We operate in an increasingly competitive market and while Qantas Frequent Flyer is the premier program in terms of offering extensive opportunities to earn and redeem points across a wide range of partners, goods and services, we remain firmly focussed on ensuring the program and its offering continues to evolve and innovate," finished Lesley Grant.

DID YOU KNOW that YOU can earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points every time you stay at a Metro Hotel, Apartment, Resort or Inn?
