Situated in the heart of Sydney directly across from Darling Harbour, Metro Apartments Darling Harbour is a popular choice for discerning tourists from both at home and abroad eager to find comfortable, affordable accommodation located in close proximity to all major attractions.

Head west from your apartment and you’ll find yourself at King Street Wharf and Cockle Bay, popular precincts on the shores of Darling Harbour. Enjoy a cocktail in one of the many boutique bars, a meal in one of the harbourside restaurants, or a 3D movie at IMAX. Play tourist at Sydney Aquarium, Wildlife World or Australian Maritime Museum, or stroll across the footbridge to try your luck at The Star casino.

If you are looking for world-class shopping, walk east from your apartment and into Sydney’s retail heart, with the Queen Victoria Building, Westfield Sydney and flagship David Jones and Myer stores all a short stroll from your front door.

For unique Asian food and culture, head south to Sydney’s Little Japan, Little Korea and ThaiTown. Be sure to sample Yum Cha or a Chinese banquet from the huge array of restaurants in Sydney’s Chinatown, then keep walking through to the Entertainment Precinct and take in a show at the historic Capitol Theatre.

For sightseeing, head north beside the sandstone walls of the Hungry Mile and Barangaroo, recently marked for redevelopment. Stop at one of the beautiful harbourside cafes at Jones Street Wharf then continue around the harbour foreshore to The Rocks, a must to explore before venturing on to the Opera House and Botanic Gardens. This historic walk will show you the real Sydney but be warned – it is also popular for late-night ghost tours.

Located in two separate buildings in Sussex and King Streets, Metro Apartments Darling Harbour offers a selection of 40 one-bedroom apartments. While the Sussex Street building offers larger, contemporary-styled apartments with views over Darling Harbour, the King Street building has a more exclusive, intimate appeal.
With only nine apartments and a rooftop pool for the exclusive use of guests, King Street is perfect for those seeking a quiet getaway and the feel of being in a world class city with all the comforts of home. Stroll out onto your New York style private balcony to complete the picture and watch the cityscape below while contemplating your next direction.

Lay Your Weary Head at Metro Hotel Sydney Central

Always looking for a hotel when I'm in the city, for the night which is generally quite often for a myriad of occasions, I often book myself into the Metro Hotel Sydney Central.

Due to its location you couldn't ask for more. It is situated directly across from The Capitol Theatre and is moments away from some of the best attractions Sydney has to offer, such as Darling Harbour, Chinatown, Paddy's Market and World Square, where you, if like me, will leave with much less money in your purse then when you walked in. Now, if only you had someone to help carry those shopping bags back to the room!

Rooms have been recently refurbished and for this night, I stayed in a Double Deluxe room which was exactly what I needed for this little night out in the big smoke as they say. Come to think of it, I have always wondered who 'They' are. Haven't you?

To my surprise there is a pool on the rooftop where you can simply sit back and soak up the sun and relax for the few moments you have (or in my case 3 minutes). Yet, still it's nice to know that in a big city such as this you can find a pool to chill out and take it all in.

The restaurant is only opened for breakfast and this is probably due to so many eateries surrounding the area. You are quite spoiled for choice. To start your night off, I highly recommend The Palace Hotel which is a pub I found across the road in a mall next to Capitol Theatre. The food was amazing!

Metro Hotel Sydney Central Completes Major Refurbishment - Metro Hotels

Metro Hotel Sydney Central, Metro Hospitality Group’s flagship property on the corner of Pitt and Campbell Streets in the heart of Sydney, will complete a two year refurbishment this month that has seen a complete upgrade of its rooms, pool, restaurant terrace and guest lifts.

The completion of the refurbishment means the hotel now offers 220 Superior and Deluxe rooms, with its former Standard rooms phased out. The higher standard of guest accommodation is expected to further strengthen the hotel’s appeal with the overseas tourism market. The hotel currently receives 30 percent of its business from international guests through overseas wholesalers and inbound operators.

The first stage of the refurbishment, completed in 2012, saw accommodation of four of the hotel’s 10 floors and the rooftop pool area receive an extensive makeover, followed by the revitalisation of the guest lifts and restaurant terrace. The final stage, finished this month, has seen the remaining six floors of accommodation upgraded. The hotel is now 100 percent smoke free.

Metro Hotel Sydney Central General Manager Sandra Calabretta said the end of the extensive renovations will mark an exciting time for the hotel as it will allow it to fully maximise its potential with both the domestic and international markets.

“It is wonderful to know we can now offer all our guests a superior standard of accommodation while still ensuring our rooms at priced at an affordable point,” Ms Calabretta said. “We are confident our new accommodation offering along with the hotel’s central location in the heart of Sydney’s entertainment precinct will be a major drawcard for international visitors.

“We have received very positive feedback from guests on the changes made, and now can concentrate on what we do best, offering our guests superior accommodation and facilities matched by outstanding customer service.”

Metro Hotel Sydney Central is situated directly opposite the Capitol Theatre and is a short walk from Sydney’s major attractions, including Chinatown, Paddy’s Market, Cockle Bay, the Queen Victoria Building and the popular King Street Wharf.

Renovations to Metro Apartments Bank Place Nearing Completion

Metro Hospitality Group will shortly complete major renovations to its boutique Melbourne property, Metro Apartments Bank Place, in a bid to maintain its reputation for providing stylish yet affordable inner city accommodation.

Commencing in September 2012, with completion towards the end of May 2013, the renovations include the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms in all apartments as well as new lighting, carpeting and furnishings.

According to George Bedwani, Chief Operating Officer of Metro Hospitality Group, this particular property continues to defy the economic climate, maintaining strong occupancy despite a downturn in leisure and corporate travel to Melbourne over the last few years.

“The Apartments are very popular and enjoy significant repeat business, largely due to their central location and competitive rates,” he said.

Metro Apartments on Bank Place attracts leisure and corporate interstate visitors, as well as the regional Victorian leisure market. The Apartments also appeal to Melbournians looking for unique weekend accommodation for the opportunity to experience the vibrant soul of their own city.

The Apartments are located in a unique 100-year old Victorian building complete with rough hewn bluestone façade, in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.  The chic exterior and surrounds are complimented by the interior’s understated style, quality furnishings and fittings.

The 46 studio and one-bedroom apartments all feature Queen sized beds, contemporary furniture and sleek grey and glass ensuites.  The suites include a fully equipped kitchen and laundry so guests can self-cater.

A hallmark of all Metro Hospitality Group properties, a popular central city location ensures guests are within easy walking distance of Melbourne’s attractions and business districts. Nearby trams and train stations allow guests to easily navigate Melbourne’s outer suburbs.

How to Attract Tourists

NEW LOOK MAG: Ian Wilson, Jocelyn Smith and Margaret and Ray Nicol attend the launch of the 2013 Ipswich Visitors Guide at Metro Hotel on Friday.

A HANDY full-colour guide to Ipswich was unveiled with the launch of this year's Ipswich Visitors' Guide at the Metro Ipswich International Hotel.

Ipswich City Council Tourism and Libraries Committee chairman David Pahlke said the brochure provided a hard-copy version of information on the many and varied attractions available in Ipswich.

"The guide highlights the various experiences, attractions, tours and accommodation on offer in Ipswich," Cr Pahlke said. A total of 40,000 copies will be distributed through visitor information centres in Queensland and northern New South Wales as well as at various tourism events.

Cr Pahlke said the Ipswich Visitor Guide helped to sell Ipswich to the world and focus attention on all the great things the city had to offer. "This is a great way to familiarise yourself with all the many different things which can be found in your own backyard." Cr Pahlke said the event also marked the launch of a special week - Discover Ipswich Week.

"Running until April 13, the week is designed to raise awareness of the range of visitor experiences available in the city and features a program of locally focussed promotional tourism activities."

Mayor Paul Pisasale said Ipswich's tourism industry provided a considerable economic benefit to the city. "This figure has continued to climb in recent years jumping from $100 million in 2008 to $136 million in 2011," he said. "We play host each year to approximately 16,000 international visitors, 241,000 domestic visitors who stay overnight and 847,000 domestic day visitors." Metro Hotel Perth to Add 53 Rooms

Situated on the south side of Perth just 10 minutes drive from the CBD, Metro Hotel Perth enjoys a prime vantage point on the south side of the Swan River. The hotel is now a well-known landmark on the Perth skyline and has, over the last 40 years, acquired iconic status with residents and visitors alike. Metro Hotel Perth will add 53 rooms to its existing hotel of 94 rooms to meet the increased demand for accommodation in Perth.

The redevelopment will also include major renovations to the lobby area of the hotel, pool area, restaurant and car park. Building will commence in mid-2013 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2013, with minimal disruption to guests.

Metro Hospitality Group’s chief operating officer George Bedwani said, “We believe the hotel industry in Perth will remain buoyant over the next five years as there continues to be capacity constraints due to few major hotel developments being built in Perth. This particular hotel is in high demand as its just outside but within easy access to the CBD.

Four years ago we completed a $3.5 million renovation to all 94 rooms. That renovation has been instrumental in us capitalising on the current boom. We are now going the next step to ensure we benefit from the anticipated growth and demand over the next 4-5 years.”

Enjoying panoramic views across the Swan River, Metro Hotel Perth is an ideal accommodation choice for value-conscious business and leisure visitors to Perth.

The rooms are much larger than the average hotel room, many with private balconies, and 70 currently overlooking the scenic Swan River. The hotel has seven conference rooms with a seating capacity for 200 people, its own licensed restaurant and bar, an outdoor swimming pool and parking.
